Through scholarship support, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing draws the brightest minds and strongest hearts for enacting change at the bedside and in the boardroom. In 2015, 38 graduate-degree students received scholarship assistance totaling more than $145,000. Just as each student experienced a unique journey that brought him or her to the School of Nursing, so too do donors who chose to invest in the future in order to honor the past. Many nursing professionals serve in direct care roles; however, in order to advance nursing practice, shape health policy and improve the health of all people, rigorous scientific inquiry is needed. Research at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis ― in areas such as technology, quality and access ― is the engine that drives new solutions that put the individual and family at the center of care, improve health care systems and design policies to assure care is effective, efficient and responsive. As the School of Nursing grows to reach full enrollment of roughly 450 students, Betty Irene Moore Hall, currently under construction, will support the school's growing capacity and sustain our vision of innovation. Once complete in fall 2017, the $50 million, 70,000-square-foot building will feature collaborative learning spaces rather than traditional classrooms, and state of the science simulation suites to engage students through interactive learning platforms and further the school's capacity to advance health and transform health care. Many donors make gifts to honor a nurse, teacher, student, relative or friend. Whether the honoree is living, or has deceased, a gift in honor or memory recognizes his or her life and accomplishments.
When you make an honorary or memorial gift, the UC Davis Foundation will, if requested, notify the honoree or next of kin and administer the gift as you direct. Honorary and memorial gifts may be made online.
By promising a gift and making payments over time, pledged gifts enable you to give more generously than what might be possible through a single contribution. Whether in the form of cash, securities, credit card payments or other types of assets, you can pay your pledge over a period of up to five years, in annual, semiannual or quarterly installments, with payments beginning at your convenience.
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs that amplify the impact of their employees' personal contributions without increasing the obligation of the individual donor. Most participating companies will match employee gifts dollar-for-dollar, and some will even double- or triple-match a gift. Find out if your company offers a matching gift program and learn how to submit your matching gift form.
Many donors choose to give a gift through appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual funds to reduce capital gains taxes. Learn more about how you can support your passion today through a gift of securities.
