Sharon Demeter, M.A., M.S., R.N., C.N.M.
Assistant Director for the Master's Entry Program in Nursing and Assistant Clinical Professor
Sharon Demeter is the assistant director for the Master's Entry Program in Nursing and an assistant clinical professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. In these roles, she serves as both a clinical instructor for the obstetrics course and leads the preceptorship program for the school’s Master’s Entry Program in Nursing as well as develops the prelicensure nursing program’s clinical operations.
With a combination of 15 years of clinical nursing experience as a registered nurse, nurse practitioner and certified nurse midwife, as well as extensive prelicensure nursing education practice, Demeter provides the school with extensive knowledge of best practices in clinical placements.
Previously, Demeter also worked as an assistant professor and the associate managing director of Samuel Merritt University’s Sacramento campus. Prior to this, she served in a variety of faculty roles in nursing programs throughout the region as wells as a nurse educator for area medical groups. Before her nursing career, Demeter provided psychological counseling and mental health services for more than a decade.
She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1998 from Brock University in Canada. Demeter earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from York University in Canada. She later returned to school at the University of California, San Francisco, to pursue a master’s degree in Nursing Science, with specialization in midwifery and women’s health. She graduated in 2001.
