Philosophy of Care
Pediatric ear, nose, and throat issues - such as breathing, hearing, sleep, swallowing, and speech - are often at the heart of key aspects of healthy growth and development. My goal is to provide the best possible care to optimize children's quality of life by addressing the conditions that can impact the development of these abilities.
Dr. Funamura is a pediatric otolaryngologist who cares for children with conditions affecting breathing, voice, swallowing, neck, nose & sinuses, speech, hearing, and ears. She is particularly concerned with conditions which affect children's ability to communicate, such as hearing loss and speech and language development.
Her clinical practice involves collaborating with many other specialties to provide the best possible care for children with complex airway, speech, swallowing, and hearing disorders. Her research interests include management of conditions affecting ears and hearing in children.
Dr. Funamura is interested in clinical research that can directly inform the care of pediatric otolaryngology patients, particularly in the area of ear disease and airway management. Her previous work includes research on tracheostomy practices and complications of ear infections.
